The open source community is an amazing decentralised organisation that fosters collaboration and democratizes access to tools and knowledge. An embodiment of this community is the FOSS4G (Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial) conference, an annual gathering of enthusiasts, professionals, and organizations committed to driving the geospatial industry through open source solutions.
FOSS4G has emerged as an important event in the open-source GIS world, serving as a hub for the exchange of ideas and nurturing the evolution of open-source geospatial technologies. As the largest global gathering focused on open-source geospatial software, the event bridges gaps between different sectors, opening doors for collaboration and fostering an environment of learning. FOSS4G brings together developers, users, decision-makers and observers from a broad spectrum of organizations and fields of operation. Through six days of workshops, presentations, discussions, and cooperation, FOSS4G participants create effective and relevant geospatial standards and protocols. In 2023, the city of Prizren, Kosovo hosted this edition of the annual event. We are excited that our team members were there, actively participating in the conference.
For almost a full week we runn an info booth, providing insights into our current campaign, “Fight Against Big Tech.”
We had a lot of fun at the booth, answering your questions about leveraging open-source solutions for your digital infrastructure needs. We also shared our passion for guiding small and medium teams toward a more autonomous and sovereign approach to technology.
Additionally, Redon presented a short talk about what we do, sharing our insights into how managed hosting and open-source technologies can intersect to create robust, flexible, and secure digital infrastructures.
Many thanks to all the geospatial professionals, developers, open-source contributors, and the FOSS4G organizing team for an amazing event. We hope you enjoyed visiting our booth and talking to our team members. It was a great opportunity to explore the future of open-source geospatial technologies together and discuss how we can all make more progress in the open-source world. It was a pleasure meeting you all!
