Some good friends we know from the in.fra.red network asked activists to help them make leaving Gmail and other Google services easier and the reaction was unbelievable. The campaign organisers received more than twice the number of expected responses from the survey, and many people reached out to express their excitement and support for this project.

The survey was conducted by May First Movement Technology and the Progressive Technology Project, in collaboration with the Infrared Network, and with funding from the Association for Progressive Communications.

Clearly, as a movement, it seems that lots of folks and their communities want to leave Google and big tech behind. But how?

The foks behind the campaign would like to share the survey results with all of us! Please join on Friday, December 6th at 12:00 pm New York time (ET)/5:00 pm UTC for a one-hour webinar where campaign organisers will present the survey results and discuss the next steps together. You’ll hear about what was learned as the main obstacles to leaving Google and big tech. In addition, some initial ideas about overcoming those obstacles will be shared.
